Celebrate This Week 1.10.15

It's always good to end the week on a positive note.  Sometimes we concentrate on the negatives.  We have a choice.  Choose positive.  Choose to celebrate.  I will be joining Ruth Ayres and her weekly link-up, Celebrate This Week.  Check out all the other celebrations HERE

Small Celebration Saturday!

1.  I just finished running 11 miles.
We have subzero temperatures and ice on the roads, which means I was inside.  Running around and around on a track.  For 11 miles.  It's not fun.  But it's done and I celebrate that!

2. 2015 published books!
My Tuesday book purchases dwindled down in November and December.  Not as many books came out.  This Tuesday was the first Tuesday of 2015 and with it brought many book birthdays!

3.  Cold Days = Reading
We had 2 "cold days" this week.  Freezing temperatures meant no school.  Since this was the first week off after break, I wasn't really ready for days off yet.  But, living in the moment, and not worrying about those extra days tacked on to the end of the school year... I enjoyed it by staying under blankets and reading.  My daughter and I read together, played some games and even did some writing!

4.  Reading Notebooks
I started my 2015 Reading Notebook.  I keep track of my reading for the year in it.  I know Goodreads does that too, but there is something satisfying about writing things down.  I also keep track of book events throughout the year in it - the ALA awards, my #bookaday lists, writing ideas, mentor texts.

5.  Chapstick
Thank good ness for chapstick this time of year!!!  I think I apply it several times every hour. Why is everything so dry?

Hope you found something to celebrate this week!

  1. Impressed with your running. During my last week of winter holidays I moved much less than usual, staying inside reading instead. Back to moving (dancing) when school starts next week.

  2. Nice job on the running! 11 miles is a big deal especially inside. That's a real head game to keep going in those circles. ;) I too have been using the lip balm liberally lately.

  3. It sounds like your year is off to a great start - full of time, books and family! And 11 miles? I am very impressed!

  4. WOW! Eleven miles. Good for you! We also had two snow days this past week so I got some extra reading time, which I loved! (Life in Wisconsin does have it's occasional benefits...) Have a great rest of your weekend, Michele!

  5. 11 miles on a track!! Wow. I'm glad you celebrated that because I keep "forgetting" about my daily exercise commitment, and now I've "remembered" that I want to do yoga today! Extra reading time does sound lovely. I go back to work next week and I'm really looking forward to it. Will be glad to get back into a regular routine.

  6. I love the idea of keeping a reading notebook. I do use Goodreads, but I can see how it would be really satisfying to keep track in a notebook. I may combine this with my daily journaling goal this year. Thanks for sharing about what you put in yours.

  7. Michele, that's great about your running. Spring and big races will soon be here & you'll be ready. Nice that you had a couple of extra days, but it is tough to get back when they happen. Enjoy you weekend, too!
