#mustreadin2017 1.05.17

Hard to believe 2017 is here.  Time for new goals and new lists.

Last year I tried something new and chose just 12 books for my #mustread list.  I figured one book a month.  Doable.

Failed.

Again.

So, start of a new year.  New list.  You would think I would go with less books this year.  Eh.

Go big or go home.

My #mustreadin2017 list....

The 12 books I must (also read: will try to...) read, hopefully one a month:

Middle Grade
1.  The Seventh Wish by Kate Messner
2.  Counting Thyme by Melanie Conklin
3.  Chains by Laurie Halse Anderson
4.  Capture the Flag by Kate Messner

Young Adult
5.  The Running Dream by Wendelin Van Draanen
6.  All Fall Down by Ally Carter
7.  The Reader by Traci Chee
8.  The Serpent King by Jeff Zentner
9.  The Testing by Joelle Charbonneau
10.  Six of Crows by Leigh Bardugo

Adult Novels
11.  Another Brooklyn by Jacqueline Woodson
12.  Truly Madly Guilty by Liane Moriarty

For some reason I chose lots of series books last year, so now I need to read the next ones.  So, these are also on the list:

13.  Island of Silence by Lisa McMann
14.  Hook's Revenge: The Pirate Code by Heidi Schulz
15.  King's Cage by Victoria Aveyard
16.  Scarlet by Marissa Meyer
17.  The Stars of Summer by Tara Dairman
18.  A Court of Mist and Fury by Sarah J. Maas

And since I didn't finish last year's list and they were all on the list for some reason or another, I need to finish them this year:

19.  Nooks and Crannies by Jessica Lawson
20.  After You by Jojo Moyes
21.  Fangirl by Rainbow Rowell

Cheers to 2017 and reading!

  1. I have not read any of these except Nooks and Crannies. It was an interesting story. I just order Hook's Revenge from Amazon, but I didn't realize there is a second book. I loved Me Before You and am afraid that After You just won't match up and I'll be disappointed so I haven't read that one. I'm curious to know what you think after you read it.

  3. If I had to choose a couple of your list, they would be The Seventh Wish and The Serpent King. I loved both. It is hard to read all we want to, I agree. This year, I chose those hanging out on my shelves. Time to read them, and pass them on! Happy Reading!

  5. I got into the series "trap" with my must reads lists too! I think I had one of Maggie Stiefvater's Raven Cycle books on my must read list every year I've done one, ha! It's always fun to find new great series though :-) I absolutely adore The Running Dream, and it might be the book I most often recommend to teens. You have many books on your list that I really want to read, and I'll be interested to see what you think of them!

  6. LOVE the whole Seeds of America trilogy--they're absolutely wonderful! I re-read Chains & Forge to prep me for Ashes. I think you'll love them too.

I am also a fan of Fangirl (as well as Eleanor & Park).

And still haven't gotten to Tara Dairman's Gladys books, but I must. The next series I'm going to read in order is Louise Erdrich's Birchbark House series. I read the first book years ago when it came out, so I'll have to re-read it before I jump in to the new ones.

    Happy New Year/happy reading!!

  7. Go Big or Go Home - now that is a reader and book lover's mantra! I am surprised you have not read The Seventh Wish. Very good book. I have a student who has a terminally ill brother and is going through some of the same feelings as Charlie - great book! The Serpent King was amazing and his second novel, Goodbye Days, is just as or more amazing! It comes out this spring. You have a lot of great selections on your list. Good luck!

  8. Oh my gosh...so many great titles and lots of new ones to me too. I loved, loved, loved Truly, Madly, Guilty. In fact, I have loved everything Moriarty has written. You've got some titles that I'll be adding to my Goodreads list. Happy Reading!

  10. We have some similar books Michele, but others are new to me. There are a few here I wanted to add to my list, but I tried to be reasonable! Some on your list that I read and loved are The Seventh Wish, Six of Crows, Another Brooklyn, and The Stars of Summer. Good luck with your list this year!
