#mustreadin2016

#mustreadin2016

It's that time of year when we think about the new and start making our resolutions, goals, and agendas for the new year.

One of my favorite things to do is think about what books I want to read in the New Year.  November and December are slower publishing months, so I'm always looking forward to what comes out in January and February.  Last year, most of the books I read came from my what was going to published that year list.  I know I am gong to read those new books.  The newly tweeted, blogged, and Goodreads about (is that a thing?) always makes my fingers itch to get ahold of them.  As I look back on my #mustreadin2015 list, it's the books that I missed in the past year or so that I continue to miss.

So, this year I am doing something a little different.  There are some books I really want to get to.  Some have been on lists of years past, some are books that my friends have raved about, some are books that I've always had my eye on.  My goal is to get to one of these books a month.  The rest of the month I can read whatever I want to read (2016 books).  Instead of making a large, grand list like I have in the past, this year my list is limited to 12 books.  No more, no less.  One each month.  Of course I can double up if needed, but I'm hoping to stick to one each month.

Here is my list of twelve books.  I can read them in whatever order works for my reading life that month.  I'll cross them off and write the month read as I go.

1.  Cinder by Marissa Meyer read in April
2.  The Meaning of Maggie by Megan Jean Sovern read in July
3.  All Four Stars by Tara Dairman read in April
4. The Friendship Doll by Kirby Larson read in July
5.  Nooks and Crannies by Jessica Lawson
6.  After You by Jojo Moyes
7.  Hook's Revenge by Heidi Schulz
8.  Full Cicada Moon by Marilyn Hilton read in January
9.  The Unwanteds by Lisa McMann
10.  Fangirl by Rainbow Rowell
11.  A Court of Thorns and Roses by Sarah J. Maas
12.  Red Queen by Victoria Aveyard read in March

What is on your #mustreadin2016 list?  How do you come up with your list?

  1. What a great idea for a list. One a month is so doable I think. I still need to get to Cinder, but so many others get in the way. I have Red Queen too, someday! Best wishes in the reading, Michele. I know you'll let me know about new books this year!

  2. This is a really good idea! It seems quite manageable. And we all totally need to come to an agreement on a verb form for Goodreads! I never actually thought about that before, haha!

  3. This is a brilliant idea! I'm planning on three a month, but one would be much easier. I completely get the wanting desperately to get ones hands on a book when there has been so much media frenzy about it.
How did you manage to limit yourself to just 12 books? Do you have a secret to share?
