Every Wednesday I join Alyson Beecher from kidlitfrenzy and other
kidlit bloggers to share wonderful nonfiction picture books.
The intention of today's blog post is to give professionals that work in the
education field new nonfiction reading material and ideas to use
with students to promote a love of reading nonfiction materials.

We have several state award lists in Illinois that are separated by ages.  The lists have recently been released and I'm happy to see some of these nonfiction books on the lists!

I think our IL readers have some amazing nonfiction ahead of them.

  1. Maybe I'll read the Tooth book with the new book about Tongues and have a theme about mouths.

  2. I've read them all except Undefeated, and will, just don't know when. I love Sheinkin's books. Thanks for sharing, Michele. There are so many wonderful nf books available!

  3. I was surprised to see books that are a few years old on these lists. I guess I hadn't understood how state book lists work! But what a great selection to suggest to kids.

  4. I was so excited to find out that Coyote Moon was a nominee a few weeks ago, Michele! I'm honored that it's being considered among these wonderful books, some of which are favorites like Laurie Thompson's Emmanuel's Dream, Jen Bryant's Six Dots and Debbie Levy's I, Dissent! Thank you for sharing!!

  5. Wonderful titles! Of course, would have loved a few more STEM titles there too!
